Hello football lovers (mainly from Australia).
This blog has been started to give Football followers down under the chance to follow news outside of Europe dealing with transfer rumours, stories etc. That's not to say we will not talk about Europe, but the focus is shifted more towards Asia, South America and the domestic game.
This is another Aussie alternative as the (let's call them professional) payed Football bloggers of Australia seem to enjoy talking more about each other than Football.
Australia has a ridiculous amount of coverage of English football and sometimes one just gets sick of hearing about how Blackpool drew with Plymouth (that's an example, If it really happened, good luck to them). Why don't we hear about how Urawa Reds or FC Tokyo are going in the J-League? What about Pohang or Jeonbuk in Korea? Al-Ittihad or even Dong Tam Long An and even our good friends Persik Kediri? Who are the Asians signing? How will the A-League teams go against them in Asia? What's the Football like? Questions, questions, questions...
Then there's South America and even Central America (Mexico in particular). We want to play like them, we want our kids to play like them and yet, if you asked many Aussie "football fans" they would tell you that Boca Juniors or River Plate won the recently concluded Argentine Apertura or that Corinthians probably won or came close to winning the Brazilian League (hmmm). We can't even get a lousy highlights package from either of these countries, how do you expect our kids to copy their style of play? Aren't they going to copy what they see on television in the English Championship?
Hopefully Oz Football House can provoke some of our TV Stations to look into these leagues and provide more coverage. For now, this site will bring you news, results and we'll even throw in the odd video here and there.
